What is WordPress?
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) that allows you to build and host your website. It’s most commonly known as a user-friendly, theme-based blog management tool but can be used to build websites, eCommerce stores and apps. 43% of the world wide web is built on WordPress. Although WordPress.org is free to download, it doesn’t cover the costs of hosting and domain.
What is WooCommerce by WordPress?
WooCommerce is an open-source plugin for WordPress that allows for building an eCommerce store. Essentially, it turns your WordPress website into an online shop. Both WordPress and WoocCommerce are free for anyone to download.
What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two very different platforms.
WordPress.com is a platform/service with managed hosting, meaning the platform hosts your website (similarly to Shopify) and charges you accordingly to pricing plans. WordPress.com does not support third-party plugins or custom themes. It does not offer any eCommerce features or integrated payment gateways unless you switch to the eCommerce plan.
WordPress.org on the other hand gives you the freedom of choosing your hosting provider, using free and premium third-party plugins and custom themes. It gives you more control over your website or eCommerce platform and you have full ownership of it.
How much do you charge for a WordPress website design?
We don’t have set prices, as we provide bespoke solutions that are hard to estimate without any knowledge of your requirements. Your WordPress website design bill will depend on functionalities, extra services (eg. copywriting, photography) and the number of pages. How long does it take you to build a WordPress website?
Our typical project timeframe for WordPress website design is between 3 and 8 weeks, but it hugely depends on the project size, additional services and functionalities of the website you may require. We will be able to provide you with an estimated timeframe during our first meeting.
The timeframe we provide does not take into consideration any delays on our clients' end - we’re all busy bees and sh*t happens.
Do you offer ongoing support?
Absolutely! We love to build long-term relationships with our clients and offer maintenance plans as well as growth SEO packages. We don’t mandate our maintenance plans to our clients but we suggest using the services of a professional web developer to maintain and update a WordPress website and plugins. If you decide to host and maintain your website independently, we are happy to offer hourly updates and maintenance on demand.
Can you provide copywriting for my website?
We can provide copywriting services at additional costs if requested. We specialise in long-form written content that’s optimised for both humans and search engines, meaning it ticks all the boxes - tells your story, engages your visitors and is loved by Google. We’ll ask you a lot of questions, as you know your business, unique offer and clients like no other. We will dig into the culture and the messages you want to spread to keep it authentic and aligned with your brand’s voice. If you require our copywriting services for your website, simply let us know during our initial meeting.
Will my WordPress website be optimised for search engines?
Our WordPress website design services include on-page technical SEO, meaning we will make sure all the components of your website will be readable and understood by search engines like Google or Bing. Keep in mind that it won’t assure a position on the first page of search results. In more aggressive industries you may need to invest in a monthly SEO strategy to get there. Do you work internationally?
Absolutely! We love meeting face-to-face and getting to know you and your brand but sometimes it’s not possible. Zoom, scheduled calls and e-mail communication are not strange to us and we love working with all kinds of businesses from different corners of the world.
Is WordPress the right choice for my business website?
WordPress.org offers flexibility and full control over your website both in the back-end and front-end making it one of the most popular platforms for businesses - both small and big. That said, other options can be a better fit for your unique business structure.
Is WordPress the right choice for my blog website?
WordPress is an outstanding platform supporting both personal blogs as well as professional and business blogs. It has one of the most user-friendly content management systems (CMS) and many supporting plugins that help you in achieving your goals and bigger audience reach. All things considered, there are many other great options for CMS websites that may be more attractive and suitable for you.
Will WordPress also host my website?
WordPress.com will host your website, but it can become more costly than other hosting providers. WordPress.org allows you to choose a third-party hosting provider. We always advise our clients to have full ownership and access to their domain and hosting.
